Oh good heavens..."Home Affairs" is ridiculous.
Notice anything odd about this?
1...3...2..? That was our day in a nutshell.
I suppose on one hand trying to change the forename and surname of a child is not something that should be "easy," but on the other hand, I do have a certified court order and a stack of very impressive documents. They are even in a big, black binder.
Speaking of certification, this is done at the South African police station by a large officer with an even larger gun strapped to his back. Hmm....this has given Kahee a LOT to chat about (and a very fearful expression in this photo)...
I think he got over his fear by channeling Mr.T (or Kanye West?)...
The "Home Affairs" experience had me crying in the parking lot out of frustration and fear...fear that we will never be able to do this...fear I can't handle it...fear that this is all going to come undone and/or we are going to have to be here forever and I will never get to bring my family home.
Honestly...look at this office...does this instill confidence?
At least these folks look happy ;)
We now wait for our paperwork to be "processed" then it is another visit to this lovely office. Hmm.
On the bright side, Oskar and Zinnia got a bit of school work done today! I ordered no "devices" until work was done which had Oskar begging for assignments at breakfast!!!! Ya-hoo.
