Hey Everyone! This is Zinnia your guest blogger(again)! ;)

Yesterday we went and toured Emthonjeni in Zanspruit, a shanty town. It absolutely broke my heart to see how some people and small children have to live their lives. It broke my heart even more when my dad told me that a family of 8 might be living in a shack the size of the shed, in my backyard.
Emthonjeni is a community center that brings hope to the whole community. We met my moms friends Jane and DK who run the center. They were very kind and gave us a tour and showed us around.
They took us out to a restaurant in the community. At first, I was a little afraid of eating there. But we all thoroughly enjoyed our food. We had chicken, red meat, chackalaka, and mealie pap. And to say the least my youngest brother was "In his element."

After lunch, we then went to visit a school in the Zanspruit community. The school was kindergarten to fourth grade and had 800 students, 40 per teacher. It was a public school and not a great one, but you could tell that the kids were SO happy to be there! Tens of thousands of kids in South Africa alone would LOVE to go to school but can't.  While in America many kids don't even want to go to school.
When we arrived at the school in our huge spotless white truck with 4 white Americans coming out of it, you know all the kids getting out of school couldn't help, but stare. I don't think I have ever been starred at more then that, in my life.

This was the schools computer center.... a tad different than the computer lab at Grand Rapids Christian.

More to come!....
