Well...tomorrow we fly to Africa. So far we have lost one iPod, weighed and re-weighed our four enormous suitcases and we are packing more snacks than any four people could eat in one year of transatlantic flights.

The focus today seems to be on all the things we need to gather for the trip...yet my heart is stirring for this little boy who will soon be ours. What is he doing right now? How aware is he that we are coming?...we are coming...

Last night our extended family gathered for a precious time of laughing, crying and praying (often all three simultaneously). We huddled in a multi-generational circle and spoke of this new family member; we pondered aloud about how much we love him even though we haven't met him yet.

After learning that we are pronouncing his name incorrectly (the "g" sounds more like a throat-clearing "h"...heaven help us), I am thinking of him simply as "my boy," "my son," "my African love."

Peace be with you.
